| We have been playing together since we first met in
1962 at Birtley Folk Club in County Durham. We share an enduring enthusiasm for
the the instrumental folk music of America, which we find generally cheerful
and optimistic. It has always cheered us up anyway. (Of course, we like and
play other traditions of folk music too). We play good "Old Time" music drawn from the very isolated traditions of the Appalachian Mountains through to the Blues of the "Deep South". We love the sound of the banjo played clawhammer style and the sound of the fiddle, often played in "cross-tuning". We especially love the two played together with a simple guitar backing. The band members are:- Colin Tipping - fiddle, banjo, guitar, autoharp and vocals Patsy Young - guitar, autoharp and vocals Roger Young - banjo, guitar, fiddle and vocals |
